"It's a solo record I did a bit back in Boston. My landlord had 1950s Cole ribbon mics from the BBC sound studio (incidental of a series number which apparently indicates their probable use on Doctor Who). I made this very sort of purist recording there with him." - Katt Hernandez
Focused primarily on freely improvised music, Katt draws a fiery array of electronic-like sounds and keening melodies from her unaltered, acoustic violin. She also works extensively with microtonality, drawn from a study of a mixture of sources, including traditional folk and sacred musics of the Middle East, Turkey, and Eastern Europe, various odd-ball wisps of old Americana, and the Maneri/Sims 72 note system. Recorded in a single take with no overdubs - hard to believe, but true.

At Ehse, our primary goal is to get great under-the-radar music out there where it can be heard and enjoyed, but that can get pretty costly for a small music label. Before we provide you with your free, high-quality mp3 files, would you like to support the Ehse cause and the artists we support? Any amount is fine. Whatever you think this music is worth to you.
